Apologies of an Average Joe

I’m sorry I can speak
of things you don’t understand.
I’m sorry I asked you nicely,
rather than yelling a command.

I’m sorry I called you daily
Trying to be sure you were okay.
I’m sorry I didn’t ignore you,
but rather thought of you all day.

But even more…

I’m sorry I’m not thin
like the people on TV.
I’m sorry if I’m too loud of quiet
and not afraid to be me.

I’m sorry if you can’t see
the feelings in my heart.
And even so, I’m still sorry
to have to watch you fall apart.

It is you I adore…

So forgive me for my intellect
and forgive me for my fears
that I’ll remain your loyal friend
still so hopeless to your tears.

And forgive me for not being handsome
nor pretty enough, nor strong.
And forgive me for being a fool,
for loving you so damn long.
