Things we lost in the fire

Reminiscing on the past
rekindling on what i thought i had
ashes blow my pain away
the crisp sky is where it lay

all the things done are set in stone
birds can fly away leaving the wildcat alone

what started the fire and it’s anger
it was you, you who put my heart in danger

the pictures of my heartaches light up the house
the rage that built up inside
and left through my mouth

the hot breath rose into flames
the smoke suffocating me held your shame

looking back on what i had lost in the fire
i learned to prevent misery
i chained my heart with wire
its my protection, my affection for you is gone
I guess a million other things could’ve went wrong

But the past should be lingering somewhere beyond the blue sky,
hovering over the still waters the ashes can finally lie
away, no longer to play with my emotions and fears,
I will no longer cry these tears
When in doubt i will forget everything i lost, but remember what i gain from the fire….strength
